# Unimaitalia
> UNIMA Italia serves as the Italian national center for the Union Internationale de la Marionnette (UNIMA), the world's oldest theatrical organization, which is affiliated with UNESCO. The organization acts as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and solidarity, dedicated to promoting and developing the art of puppetry and figure theater throughout Italy. It fosters a community of theaters, museums, artists, scholars, and enthusiasts, engaging them through working groups and annual events such as World Puppetry Day and the Symposium. UNIMA Italia also participates in international initiatives, works to preserve the heritage of Italian puppet theater, and supports emerging artists to ensure the continued vitality and evolution of this art form.
